3 Top Apps to Help You Find a Home

Shopping for a new home can be a daunting task. Where do you start? You can contact your local Realtor. You can check out the real estate listings in the newspaper or those real estate booklets you find at the grocery store. You can do an online search with your home computer. Or if you own a smartphone, you can use one of the many applications available to conduct your search.

To help you determine which app to use, here is an overview of three of the most popular apps on the market.

1. Zillow Real Estate App

A free app available on Android and Apple, the Zillow Real Estate app provides future homeowners with information on various homes for sale, including price, availability, the home’s size and the number of rooms. You can view the selling prices of homes located in a particular neighborhood you’re interested in living in as well as prices of homes that recently sold. You can see photos of available homes. And, the app comes with GPS technology so you can accurately find a home as you’re driving to it.

The app comes with notification features that can let you know when a home that you really love comes on the market or if a home’s sales price drops to a specific level. The Zillow Real Estate app also comes with a mortgage calculator to help you figure out your monthly mortgage payments.

2. Trulia Real Estate App

The Trulia Real Estate app is a free app available on Android and Apple. It allows you to instantly view nearby homes for sale on a large, detailed map via GPS technology as well as see colorful photos of each home. It provides you with information about each home, including listing details, open house schedules and neighborhood facts. The app also comes with search filters, so you find property listings that match your specific home and location criteria like the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the specific area, or your desired price.

Additionally, the Trulia Real Estate app can provide you with instant notifications when new homes come up for sale in your targeted areas. You can view information on nearby restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations and more as well. The app also enables you to quickly contact the home’s real estate agent for more information about the listing or to schedule a viewing.

3. REALTOR.com App

Available on Android and Apple, the free REALTOR.com app provides home buyers with information on over 80% of all available real estate listings. Plus, it is updated every 15 minutes, so you have the latest listings at your fingertips. You can search the databse for properties by browsing cities, drawing a location on a map or using your current GPS location. And you can customize your search based on a variety of factors such as price, home size, home age or the number of bedrooms or bathrooms.

You can view each listing’s basic details; assess the home’s interior and exterior features; check out property photos; and give the home your own individual rating with notes. The app also enables you to contact the Realtor to arrange a property viewing.

While these real estate apps can’t guarantee that you’ll find your dream home, they can definitely make sure your search easier and less overwhelming.

Thank you does not seem like enough. My circumstances were difficult, some might say Herculean. A refinance was my saving grace. Others turned me down without even trying. Not so with Grandview. We hit several snags on the lender's end of things, but Tim and Laura were able to adapt very well and make it happen.I presented them both with a fairly challenging situation as I was processing two mortgages simultaneously. Furthermore, both of these mortgages were being handled according to the delayed financing exception within the category of cash-out refinances. I don't even know where to begin in describing Tracy Harding. She is the most loving, caring, and supportive person someone could work with. I was on Active Duty as a combat medic, with 15 months in Afghanistan. Unfortunately toward the end of my deployment, I returned home disabled after an RPG blast. My credit took a hit, I went through a divorce, and so forth. The unfortunate story of a transitioning veteran at times. While I had the VA Home Loan benefit, I was fearful I would never be able to use it. That is until I met Tracy.Initially I was hesitant to reach out to people to initiate the mortgage process. Our journey with Grandview Lending started several months ago. To be honest, our credit situation was less than ideal and other lenders had not been helpful at all to even figure out what we needed to do. We had even been downright ignored by others. After doing a google search, i came upon Grandview lending. The reviews were great. I figured it was worth a shot, right? I called and spoke with Mike, and he told me he was the president of the company. I thought “great. I’m going to tell him i have credit issues and he’s going to get off the phone as soon as he can and ignore me like the others.” What happened next was the exact opposite. He listened. He cared. I think the first phone call was at least 20-30 minutes long. He discussed all the possible options moving forward. He sent several emails on the plan moving forward. He followed up with phone calls. My husband and i worked on the credit issues. Surprisingly, after a little past a month, we were where we needed to be! We were told by others to maybe try again in 6 months or a year! I know everyone’s situation is different regarding credit, but this was our experience. When it was time to submit our full application, it all went so smoothly. This is the second time that we worked with Grandview to purchase a home. However, what made this time different is that this was a new build for us. So, this was something that we had never experienced. But, when I say that Tracy, Lindsey and Jennifer were THE BEST people to work with in all of this, I mean it. They made sure to walk us through everything. They were patient with us and they guided us through this process with the intent of closing on our new home. I am eternally grateful to these three for everything they did for us. Tracy even showed up at our closing to tell us congratulations in person. Buying a home is stressful in itself, but when you have people like these wonderful ladies to work with you as you go through it, things don't seem as stressful.
